Four commonly used colour rules –

1) monochrome (monochromatic) 2) complementary 3) analogous 4) triadic

1) b&w – (monochrome) saturation and value relationships

2) complementary – colours that work together (opposite the wheel from one another) e.g. Red and green

3) analogous – groups the colours in threes e.g. green, yellow, orange-yellow. (refers to having analogy, or corresponding to something in particular, supporting values)

4) triadic – The two most basic triadic palettes are the primary colours red, blue, and yellow (mostly used in kids shows) three points of the wheel
